Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she gained fame. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she dropped more music via the Internet including Bound. On July 21st, 2015, Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat It Out. The following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. Then, in December of 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna had been contracted by Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21st, 2016, her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed in her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening performance. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two songs, with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. The music video later released in September. The 9th of November saw her release two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then on November 13 two new singles, titled No One and Pedigree. She was featured with Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16th, and made the track available as a solo single to the album she released her debut. A music video debuted on February 20, 2019 to go along with the track. Within a time, it was viewed more than 3 million views. In support of the track she performed together with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
